Literature Text

I remember the days of playing in the grass,
I remember the days in my old school room,
I remember the days of all of my past,
I remember my home, I left it all too soon,

I've gone home, gone home, back to the place where I was born,
I've gone home, gone home, but I don't recognize it anymore,

The grass is all wilted now, the grass is all brown,
Cement walls can be seen growing all around town,
Painted red with words of hate, painted red with blood,
A gripping death, a terror of, a never ending flood,

I've gone home, gone home, back to the place where I was born,
I've gone home, gone home, but I don't recognize it anymore,

The old school is still here, but only an empty shell,
Rotted wood and broken glass, fed into the fires of hell,
I see some people lurking here, see them with their needles,
A rotting body, an empty corpse, all flowing full of beetles,

I've gone home, gone home, back to the place where I was born,
I've gone home, gone home, but I don't recognize it anymore,

The old store where I used to go with my mom and dad,
Has been torn down, replaced with a shining bachelor pad,
The movie theater's gone now, replaced with a house of broken women,
A fading dream, an idiot's delight, nothing's ever given,

I've gone home, gone home, back to the place where I was born,
I've gone home, gone home, but I don't recognize it anymore,

And I stood there on my old porch looking through the windows,
It was dark inside, it was cold in there, and that's when I chose,
To turn away, to not look back, and leave it as it was,
Forget this nightmare, drive away, it's what everyone does,

I've gone home, gone home, back to the place where I was born,
I've gone home, gone home, but I don't really know what for...
